Organizers of Morton Day in the Park and Lake Fest have announced that both events have been rescheduled due to weather concerns and unsafe conditions. Morton Day in the Park was originally scheduled for May 2, while Lake Fest was planned for May 9. Both events are now set to take place on May 16.
Both annual events are longtime community traditions that draw residents and visitors together for food, entertainment, vendors, family activities, and fellowship. Each celebration highlights the spirit of the Morton community and provides an opportunity for local businesses, organizations, and families to come together and enjoy time outdoors.
Organizers said the decision to postpone the events was not made lightly, but recent weather conditions made it necessary to prioritize the safety of attendees, vendors, volunteers, and performers. Organizers are hoping by moving it to a later date that it will be safer and a more enjoyable experience for those attending. .
Community leaders also thanked vendors, sponsors, volunteers, and city workers for their flexibility and continued support during the schedule changes. Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for May 16 and come out to support the community celebrations.
Although the weather created an unexpected delay, organizers said they are excited to still bring the community together later this month. With activities, entertainment, food, and family fun still planned, officials hope the rescheduled events will continue the traditions that local families and visitors look forward to each year.
