Members of the Morton Lions Club enjoyed an interesting and informative program at their recent meeting presented by Riley Dollar of Ott & Lee Funeral Homes.
Dollar shared the history behind coffins and caskets, explaining that while many people use the terms interchangeably, there are actually differences between the two. He told members that traditional coffins have six sides and taper at the head and foot, while caskets are rectangular in shape.
The presentation took members on a journey through history as Dollar explained how funeral customs have changed over the years and how caskets eventually became the more common choice in the United States.
Drawing from his experience in the funeral profession, Dollar offered a unique perspective on a topic that most people rarely think about until they are faced with it themselves. Club members found the program both educational and fascinating.
The Morton Lions Club appreciates Dollar for taking the time to share his knowledge and provide an enjoyable program for the group.
