Classic cars, trucks and motorcycles filled Roosevelt State Park over the weekend as the annual Sparkz and Restoration Car & Truck Show brought together vehicle enthusiasts from across the region while raising money for a pair of worthy causes.
According to event organizer Jeff Huffmaster, a total of 128 vehicles participated in this year’s show, making it another successful year for the annual fundraiser.
Although organizers have not yet completed the final count of money raised, Huffmaster said the event generated enough funds to benefit both Friends of Roosevelt State Park and Brendan and Christopher Letchworth of Puckett, the twin brothers with cerebral palsy who were selected as this year’s special charity.
“We had 128 vehicles,” Huffmaster said. “We haven’t tallied up the money raised yet, but I know we have enough for the park and the boys.”
Before the event, organizers announced that proceeds would help Friends of Roosevelt continue park improvements and support the Letchworth family’s efforts to purchase a specially equipped Jeep Gladiator that will be used to promote cerebral palsy awareness at events across the state.
The annual show, founded by Huffmaster, has become more than a gathering of classic and custom vehicles. Each year, the event combines a love of automobiles with a commitment to giving back, choosing a charitable cause while also supporting Roosevelt State Park through the Friends of Roosevelt organization.
In addition to the vehicle show, families enjoyed food vendors, craft vendors, games and many of the park’s recreational activities throughout the weekend.
While the final fundraising total will be announced later, organizers say the community’s support once again demonstrated that a shared passion for classic cars can make a meaningful difference for both Roosevelt State Park and local families in need.
